Is This You?

Are you frustrated because it’s so difficult to make sustainable changes in your life?

•    You are a woman who has not been able to make lasting changes in your life and you want to.
•    You are looking for better health, happiness and meaning to your life and don’t know where to start.
•    Your are frustrated, feeling stuck and overwhelmed by all the information and choices to become healthy.
•    You don’t feel like anyone hears or understands your needs.
•    You don’t know how to choose who is right for you or who can be trusted to give you what you need.

Most women want to make long lasting changes to their life that will improve their health and wellbeing and that of their family. Unfortunately, with all of the information that is available it is easy to become overwhelmed and not know what is true and what is marketing hype.

Tried it and it didn’t work!

We often see fad diets, diet supplements, weight loss products, medication that is easily given for very normal emotional states. There seems to be no time for people to be heard in our health system. We get used to looking for quick fixes because our society isn’t geared for allowing us to listen to our bodies and mind and take rest and time to rejuvenate. We are no longer skilled at how to care for ourselves.

When faced with overwhelm of information it is really hard to make a choice that you feel fits you perfectly. How can one solution fit every woman. We are all so very different. No wonder many of the products and solutions around just don’t work!

We have all seen different diets work for some and not for others. We meet our unmet needs in ways that aren’t always helpful to our health and wellbeing. Many of us have curled up on the lounge in the evening with some chocolate which may have given us some form of comfort that we weren’t able to receive in another positive way. How many times have we taken medication because we haven’t felt supported through tough times and haven’t known any other way to deal with hardship. How often are we not even aware that we have a need that is not being met and are having trouble understanding and identifying our feelings. So we distract or ignore ourselves until we become so sick we can’t ignore or distract ourselves anymore.

When only your symptoms are treated without the rest of you being considered, how can you possibly return to a balanced state of health? It just doesn't work and keeps you trapped in the cycle of quick fixes.

What to do!

To truly make long lasting changes there are four things you need to have to give yourself the best possible opportunity for success.

•    First is to find the support you need to gain the understanding of what feeds your heart;
•    Second is to find the support to learn the skills and knowledge that will improve your physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing;
•    Thirdly to find the support you need to become aware of what it is that is keeping you stuck, and
•    Lastly is to find or use your spiritual alignment to nourish yourself. This doesn’t mean that you have to be religious, it just means finding your connection with Source / Universal energy / Nature / God, whatever name you resonate with. You’ll recognize it when you have joy in your heart, a sense of being at ease and a light, open feeling in your body.

Support is an essential element to make change and Without it and the knowledge and awareness of these 4 key skills and actions, you will continue to do the same things you’ve been doing and you will continue to get the same results you have alway gotten. By incorporating these four skills and actions you will be bringing awareness to yourself which will give you the opportunity to change and to be empowered to take hold of the reins of your life.

About Linda

What makes me think I can help you?

I’m going to tell you a little about how I got to this position of being able to offer to help people who are feeling like you are. Initially I became interested in health and complementary therapies after my second child was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 6 months. You can imagine the amount of stress that was in my life at this time and I certainly didn’t have the skills that I have today to be able to deal with such trauma. I was a young Mum who had three children under four, my husband worked and I stayed home looking after the children and as an Air Force family we lived away from our families. So you can imagine what my life was like, little money, lots of stress around my child with cancer and if she would live, then for her to become blind from the treatment of the disease at the age of 3 and having to learn what was best for a child with a vision impairment and all the while trying to keep some sort of normality in our lives. (I just want to share that my daughter is a cancer survivor thankfully and I have known many children who were not).

I withdrew from friends and family. I didn’t know how to ask to be listened to and I knew that people just didn’t get what I was going through. I didn't feel like I belonged anywhere. The doctor wanted to put me on antidepressants which I refused. I had absolutely nowhere to go to be understood. It was a very isolating time. It was even more isolating because of my self destructive tendencies and addictive behaviours which were the only way I knew how to get through or more to the point avoid looking at the trauma in my life. Hence my special interest in trauma and addiction and how Complementary Therapies can assist with this journey. Since my studies in Gestalt Therapy I have learned that without support I could not have done anything differently. I invite you to put to use my experience and knowledge to help you in your journey.

From 1996 I was working in a fairly high pressure job and my life was heavily imbalanced. I went looking for solutions and found Ayurveda. I commenced studying Ayurveda in 2004 and left the job that was contributing to the stress in my life. My Ayurvedic education was not just a course of study for me. It is part of my life journey and spiritual growth.

Not long after opening my clinic in 2006 I realized I needed to further educate myself in counselling. An unplanned opportunity came in 2007 when I commenced training as a Family Support Volunteer with Karuna Hospice Service and I found that I loved working with people who were nearing the end of their life or had been diagnosed with a life limiting illness. I am still an active Family Support Volunteer with them.

It was 2010 when I undertook training in Oncology Massage and absolutely fell in love with this therapy. Then I undertook a Masters level of Gestalt Psychotherapy which supports my relational attitude with my clients. I trained as a Family Constellation Facilitator and love the amazing generational healing this work does.

My experience of going From Diagnosis To Peace, being stuck yet wanting to make long lasting changes for my physical, mental and emotional health and the health and wellbeing of my family and the education that I have attained supports me to support you in your journey. I am passionate about the service I provide and feel honoured I am able to do the work my heart desires.

I am still on my journey (which I anticipate will take me the rest of my life) and am able to share what I have learned so far. By using the wisdom of Ayurveda, Gestalt Psychotherapy, Oncology Massage, Family Constellations and Tibetan Buddhist Studies as my ground of knowledge, I am able to consider the individual nature and needs of each and every person who comes to me for assistance.

In another turn of unexpected events my husband was diagnosed with cancer just before Christmas in 2013 and I am yet again witness to a close family member working through this disease. This time I refuse to be paralysed by fear and have so much more understanding about this thing called cancer. I have decided to write about my experience on my blog and may these writings be of benefit to others.

If this resonates with you, I would love the opportunity to work with you. Apply for a FREE Discovery Session and see how we can work together.
